Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a COVID-19 test before I travel?
You may need a negative COVID-19 viral test for some international travel destinations. Requirements for testing are constantly evolving and vary from country to country – and may differ within a country or region. Be sure to check requirements for entry into your destination and for local requirements. The CDC provides worldwide travel recommendations by destination. You can also check the COVID-19 information on the U.S. Department of State’s website or the website for your destination’s U.S. Embassy.
Be sure to also contact your airline or other carrier for specific information about testing requirements for travelers.
You may need to show proof of a negative test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19. Self-tests for travel purposes may need to be supervised in real-time by a qualified proctor to meet travel requirements. The proctor can supervise the test virtually.
Cue’s COVID-19 test is portable, compact, and easy to use anywhere, at any time. Cue+™ offers additional benefits, including 20% off both products, including replacement test cartridges and services like supervised testing. Just select the supervised test option in the Cue Health App to start a video proctoring session and get certified test results.
What kind of COVID-19 test is Cue?
The Cue COVID-19 test is an isothermal nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT), a type of molecular diagnostic test, which is an equivalent method to reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests, sometimes called “lab tests.” Molecular tests detect the genetic material of the virus and are the most sensitive diagnostic tests for COVID-19.
Cue’s COVID-19 Test for Home and Over The Counter (OTC) Use has FDA Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for over-the-counter use without a prescription at home and in other non-clinical settings. The Cue COVID-19 Test for professional use has an EUA for use in professional clinical and point-of-care settings.
Which countries accept Cue test results for entry?
Certified results from Cue’s COVID-19 test meet requirements for entry by air travel into many countries.
Cue’s supervised test meets requirements for molecular nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT). Because NAATs are more sensitive than antigen tests, Cue’s supervised test may also meet standards that allow antigen test results.
Cue’s test meets requirements for COVID-19 self-tests (sometimes referred to as home tests) that are proctored, as long as virtual proctoring is permitted. With a Cue+™, you will receive 20% off products and services, like Cue’s supervised testing.
For international air travel to other countries, please verify local requirements for your outbound destination with your airline, the local government, and the U.S. State Department. Testing requirements vary from country to country and are constantly evolving. Be sure to consult your airline or other carrier to ensure you have the most up-to-date country-specific requirements.
Cue is authorized in the United States (FDA) and in Canada (Health Canada) for both consumer use without a prescription (self-testing) and for professional use at point-of-care.
Cue's COVID-19 test is also authorized for use in Singapore (HSA) for self-testing, and in the European Union (CE Mark) and in India (CDSCO) for professional use only.

Is travel proctoring included with my test?

This feature is available exclusively to Cue+ Complete™ Members at no additional charge, and can be used anytime, anywhere, whenever you need it. With your Cue+ Complete annual subscription, you’ll also receive virtual care 24/7 within the United States, discounts on Cue products, and free, same-day shipping in select markets.
Are there storage or handling requirements for Cue’s COVID-19 test that I should keep in mind while traveling?
To avoid potentially exposing your Cue tests and Reader to extreme temperatures, we recommend that you carry them with you when traveling. That is, if possible, do not check them in your luggage.
To ensure the integrity of Cue’s COVID-19 Test Cartridges and Cue Cartridge Reader while traveling, please note the following:
- To conduct a Cue COVID-19 test, you must be in an environment from 59°F (15°C) to 86°F (30°C)
- Cue COVID-19 Test Cartridges need to be stored in environments from 59°F (15°C) to 86°F (30°C)
